Yang Jiechi Meets with IOC President Thomas Bach

On September 17, Yang Jiechi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, met with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach in Beijing.

Yang Jiechi said that President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the preparations for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, and all the work is progressing smoothly. China appreciates the efforts made by President Bach to promote the development of the global Olympic Movement and the cooperation between the IOC and China, and will continue to work closely with the IOC to jointly host the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Bach said that the IOC is very pleased to see that the preparations for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games have been fruitful, and expresses its heartfelt thanks to President Xi Jinping for his personal commitment and the full support of the Chinese government. The IOC is willing to make joint efforts with China to ensure that the Beijing Winter Olympic Games will be a green, clean and successful Olympic event.
